Who remembers the Tom Cruise move, Cocktail? Sure, it wasn't an Oscar winning performance, but didn't we all dream about visiting that beautiful beach? Moreover, the Beach Boys song featured in the movie had us all wondering: "Is there really a place called, Kokomo"?

Well, we're pretty sure we've found it, in Jamaica, and it's not one of the famous beaches we all know of in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios or Negril. A few hours past Ocho Rios, lies Port Antonio, a past playground of royalty, movie stars, and millionaires. Surprised?

The land from the shore to the mountains has been declared a conservation corridor, with restrictions on development and exploitation. The Portland district, where Port Antonio lies, is the richest in Jamaica in endemic species of plants. The fauna delights include numerous hummingbirds and the world's second largest butterfly. A far cry from the ritzy mega resorts, Port Antonio is "the real Jamaica". Here you can immerse yourself in the true beauty of the island and it's Jamaica roots.

From the beautiful Blue Lagoon, to the secluded Frenchman's Cove Beach and the ruins of Folly Mansion, Port Antonio is surely one of the most exotic environments in the world. Come and enjoy, we've found "Kokomo"!

Winnifred Beach:
Just a mile from the closed beach where Tom Cruise once juggled bottles in Cocktail, Winnifred Beach is one of the most appealing beaches in all of Jamaica. Located in the Fairy Hill community, Winnifred Beach is home to a delightful reef just offshore that's not only perfect for snorkeling, but for its clear, calm, bright-blue water justly popular with locals.

San San Beach:
One of the most exclusive beaches in Port Antonio. It's located at the base of San San District, where many of the area's nicer villas are located. The fine-sand beach hugs a cove next to Alligator Head and overlooks Pellew Island, from where a protective reef extends eastward to the mouth of the Blue Lagoon.

The Blue Lagoon:
The Blue Lagoon is a natural lagoon, situated roughly seven miles east of Port Antonio. The deep lagoon was once thought to be bottomless but divers have since determined it's depth to be around 180 feet.
The most striking feature about the Blue Lagoon is its mystical blue color which changes throughout the day, depending on the angle of the sun. A day spent by the Blue Lagoon, you can see the hue change from turquoise to sapphire to deep blue. When you go swimming in the blue lagoon, you'll be massaged by streams of warm water from the Caribbean Sea and refreshing jets of icy fresh water from the underground streams which feed the lagoon. The site was originally called The Blue Hole. However, following the success of the Brooke Shields film "The Blue Lagoon" which was filmed here, the site was re-named "The Blue Lagoon". Blue Lagoon is closed to the general public but the boatmen who are stationed by the fence can take you on boat rides around to the lagoon, some may even open the fence to let you take a look.

Reach Falls:
Reach Falls Jamaica is one of the most amazing natural waterfalls that the island has to offer. It is peacefully situated amongst exotic virgin rain forest. Located on the eastern end of Jamaica in Portland, it’s approximately an hour and a half drive from Ocho Rios, Jamaica. This is truly beautiful setting. The water is cool, refreshing, and crystal clear. Vines hang and natural bamboo stand throughout the falls. You will see species of plants here that you won’t see anywhere else in the world. The scenic hike and swim up the river is sheer beauty.
If you go beneath the waterfalls you will see hidden holes that are naturally carved out by the water. You’ll even find a secret cave behind one of the falls that you can step in, then climb out just above the cascade. Reach Falls is somewhat remote so not many tourists know about it. Dont be surprised if you have the place all to yourself when you go.

There is an admission to enter Reach Falls, but it does include a short tour.
